I've got quite a few favorite X-Men artists over the years, but only one favorite FF artist. JB's FF run was more definitive than his X-Men run if you ask me. ••• Thanks!

I just finished reading the entire run of Byrne X-Men issues to my sons. I think next I’m going to read them he end of The Untold Story and then we’ll read this together.
Thank you so much for doing this, JB. It’s really great work.

Dang, in that first panel I thought Ben socked a Sentinel thru the building. Then I seen that third vapor trail in the next panel. I would not want to be in Sue's path when she finds out!
This is going to come to some kind of crescendo!

That "SPAK" looks familiar....I recall a scene of someone getting shot in the head (was it by Adams?) and remember being more repulsed by the sound effect than the panel itself!

I’ve lifted most of my sound effects (those that I didn’t draw myself) from early FF ESSENTIAL volumes. A couple of BAMFs came from elsewhere. (Yesterday I found a website discussing what it claimed were the “silliest” SFX. Typical of such lists, it was mostly the musings of ennui-engorged fanboys demonstrating themselves to be far too old for this hobby. One example of such was their singling out of Nightcrawler’s trademark BAMF, which they insisted should be “POOF”.)

JB,
I see where your rendering of the Thing is pretty much circa 1979-80, during your MARVEL-TWO-IN-ONE and FF run. Bringing back old memories.
Thanks!

Interesting, I went a different direction — I first read it as “a Sentinel just blasted Ben out the window”
I think the Sentinels are making a BIG mistake in all of this: capturing mutants — not killing them. Also: the Sentinels leaving all of these heroes behind... another BIG mistake!
Excited to see where all of this goes!

But, as you note, that’s the version that is correct for this “vintage”, even tho the time frame for ELSEWHEN is pretty much “now”.

Ugh. I am SO glad such people don't have the power to make such changes. "BAMF" gives me a stronger impression of Nightcrawler disappearing and reappearing in a flash of brimstone, fire, and smoke. "Poof" just sounds weak to me.
About the Thing's brow: JB, did you view the changes with his brow as a stylistic choice, or was he actually changing physically?
