I published a letter in JBNM from a guy complaining that I refused to use his metallic pen and signed “cheaply” with a Sharpie.

He didn’t seem to realize how much he revealed about himself with that word.

The above is the BBB story I've heard the most from people. So many people want sigs with metallic colors and get infuriated when you decline.

You'd think they would just be happy to get a signature, let alone for free considering how many pros charge these days.

Just meeting JB when he visited Toronto a few years ago was enough for me . The signed books were just a bonus and who cared what he used to sign with .

I had to drive from Boston back to New York yesterday. Merely passing through Connecticut, you could feel the presence of Byrne

I met JB just once a VERY long time ago.  (Indiana Jones issue #2 had just come out.)  I don't have a bad Byrne story to share though as JB was incredibly nice and was very willing to chat with the fans.

I found this bad Byrne story from a comic shop owner and Youtuber. He said he won't be buying/ordering X-MEN ELSEWHEN (unless his customers want a copy and ask him to order it) because of how you treated him at a convention decades ago. Here's the link to the video.

That's the guy I came across that I mentioned upthread. Just the smugness of uttering JB's name as the first 2 words of the clip is enough for me.

How unsurprising:

Last thing I'm going to do is frequent a store where I have to talk the owner into getting the comics I want.  Especially not an asshole that wastes his time posting a shitty video about my favorite creator.  I mean, it's fine if JB isn't your cup of tea, but I will never understand shitting on a good product that you could make money selling.  Jackass needs to stick to eBay sales where he doesn't have to interact with the public as much.

Here is his follow up video. He says that he won't change his mind and his store policy towards JB until JB admits he is wrong and/or apologizes for his past behavior.

I’d just say JB is known not to suffer fools gladly. Considering how the internet has revealed just how many vocal, self-assured fools there are out there, it doesn’t trouble me when they pop up like whack-a-moles to tell their tales of woe.
