Here you go, Fred: Duela Dent in action with the Titans...

Teen Titans #49, pg 9

Pencils by Jose Delbo, inks by Vince Colletta

This was the very first issue of the Teen Titans I ever read---I can still remember the smell of the newsprint in the home town drug store!

Uh huh. I remember the confusion in trying to figure out why two-
face's kid looked like the Joker.... Not much action there though, she
didn't fare too well in that scrap. ;)

Those of you who know me, know that I was a Marvel kid, buying only
a few DC books during that time, the decade of the 1970's. Having
said that, I identified Garcia Lopez, along with very few others, as THE
DC artist, with some of my strongest memories of stories involving
books with his powerful artwork.A few years back, I began getting
convetion passes through my association with a prominent comic
message board site. Great access to floors before the show, no
waiting in lines, etc. As a gesture of gratitude to the Baltimore show
and in order to help promote it, since it had become my favorite con, I
humbled myself and very generously offered to interview Jose before
the 2010 show.... and the suckers accepte...um, I mean, they gave me
his contact info. I found myself meeting with him over esppressos on
Friday night before the show weekend was to begin. I had met him
once previously, but it was on the con floor in NYCC the year before.
While I had greatly enjoyed my first encounter with him, conversation
over drinks allowed me to become truly an admirer of the man and his
lifestyle and way of seeing the world. I am grateful to say that my
"friendship" with him has continued via email and FB message
communications as well as what has become an annual, late night
espresso chat each year before the Baltimore show. The link to that
interview is here:         http://www. comicboards.com/jose-lopez.php

This piece was something I was fortunate in stumbling upon.
Though the story of my acquiring it is a lengthy one, I'll simply say that
I am thrilled to own a page from the only published work that Garcia
Lopez did with a Marvel character. His Hulk blows my mind and
makes me wonder what the Marvel characters would look like under
his brush. If they were anything close to the stellar renditions he did of
the jade giant, they would have been beautiful tales told. The
incredible linework on this piece is lost in the scan. Now John has 2
reasons to hate me ;)

Edit: I should add that Dick Giordano did the inks on this book and
that final Batman close-up looks a helluva lot like Neal Adams....

Mr Mailman brought this to my door today. The 17th daily Sky Masters strip from 1958. Signed by Jack Kirby.
