Next up is Eddy's double splash page from Nightwing #1 (pages 2 &3). Love the detail. I believe much of his details are lost in the inking process, but JP Mayer does an incredible job trying to keep up with him and is pretty damn good at capturing and maitaining the original essense. This is the page that I saw 2 years ago, when meeting Eddy at NYCC, that transformed me from completely unfamiliar with his work to an instant diehard.... the emotion punched me in the chest. He appears to grow exponentally with every project.

••

Beautifully rendered, but a complete waste of a double page spread.

Yeah, though it does set up and establish a nice back-drop of Gotham. I asked him to hold the double-spread from #16 for me. It actually depicts Dick performing acrobatics via Spider-Man style and is much more dynamic with plenty of action and movement. Probably a month away.

I was a big fan of much of Luke Ross' run on Spectacular Spider-Man and mesmerized by his Jonah Hex work. He is one of those artists whose work is heavily affected by the inker and I prefer pencils. Milgrim did some great inking over his Spidey stuff, but few have done him justice before or since. I met him for the first time this year and he became an additional Brazilian artist that I've been able to obtain artwork from...

I became aware of Blacksad at the 2011 Harvey Awards and the
discovery of this European import alone was worth the cost of
admissionisThis crime noir book is not only a a very well-written story,
but Juanjo Guarnido brings the anthropamorphic characters to life,
leaving you convinced with each gesture and facial twitch that they
breathe. I became an instant fan of the artist and was floored to see
him at NYCC 2012... and accepting commissions. I was psyched with
the results!
