I'd seen Uncanny X-Men mentioned, but in certian areas of
the U.K. "Canny" means clever, i assumed Uncanny meant the
opposite so thought it was a parody title. It wasn't until
i saw a copy of issue #113 with J.B.'s beautiful cover that
i bought a copy and was blown away!

I called Namor the "Sub-Mareener" at school once and some kid corrected me.  Obviously, I'd heard the word "marine" pronounced many times, but not "mariner."  Still, the correct version immediately sounded right and I adjusted my pronunciation with no problem.

To this day, I still find it hard to believe that the name of the X-Men's arch-foe is pronounced "Mag-neato"!
