Curt Swan pages are becoming harder to come buy.  Swan's official art dealer is out of pages for sale.

Alan Davis was at mid-Ohio a couple of years ago. As the show was ending, he and his wife were walking past my artist's alley table. I made sure to say "Hi" and try to get as much time in as possible. While talking about the state of the industry I slid in how bummed I was that I couldn't have spent the weekend waiting in the extramely slow line for original, full figure drawings (that were the most brilliant things ever). He said he was on his way to the bar, and he would gladly draw for me...

What do you say to that?

I was so tired after a weekend convention, I could'nt imagine how tired he must've been. With an offer that nice, I felt it was rude to accept, so I said "no"...

what a dope...

So, I hope one day to have a nice original Alan Davis.
One day...

The thing about that show was that Alan and Robin Riggs were penciling and inking full figure drawings, and giving the money to charity. They were printable, final art quality.
People were waiting all day, at a rate of one drawing an hour (maybe longer). The line was going nowhere, and peolpe were sitting in line, as if they were waiting for Springsteen tickets. The bad news was that people were camping out in front of vendor's tables, completely screwing over those that paid money to set up at the show.
A horrible move on the part of the con...

Still, the drawings were soooooo nice...

Superboy & the Legion of Super-Heroes #237 pg 9 1978

Pencils by Walt Simonson, inks by Jack Abel

A terrific example of early Walt Simonson highlighting Superboy, Mon-El, and Dawnstar. I love Jack Abel's inking here!

Just received some newly purchased artwork by Paul Pelletier. I've been a big fan of his work since his Exiles days, but have adored his Fantastic Four run and so grabbed up 2 pages from the recent issue, featuring the team going up against the Frightful Four.

(I love the teamwork depicted in these pages! and was tempted to pick up page 15 as well, but showed some restraint.) Page 14:

I know that's supposed to be Sandman, but why does the fist look like Hydroman?  I love the art on those pages.

I miss lettering!!! I saw a beautiful Rick Leonardi page but it didn't have any
lettering on it and I'm seriously considering not to persue it. It just doesn't
feel like a comic page to me. It's one thing if the page was meant to be
"silent" but I just can't get a handle on the computer taking over in this
regard. Talk about a lost artform. Also colouring. I sometimes wonder what
some of my favourites are doing now - like Glynis Wein. Anyway, that's my
two cents.
