Just sold at Romitaman. This was the supporting text:
"This is a really cool nicely detailed partial cover featuring SPIDERMAN
who is holding a dead IRON FIST in his arms, which was later used in that
CLASSIC pose very reminiscent of CYCLOPS HOLDING a dead JEAN GREY
from the Uncanny X-Men #136 cover! Front cover is very detailed in the
pencils that are drawn and on the BACK of this piece we see a VERY
detailed image of I think Glynis Wein, or some other Marvel staffer, drawn
in VERY detailed pencils as STORM form the X-Men! And the piece is
signed JOHN BYRNE '77, and a little caption above John Byrne's signature
reads "HONEST BON! HE MADE ME DO IT" Just a cool piece of art that was
drawn only 2 YEARS after Storm was first created and 4 years BEFORE
Byrne drew the classic X-Men #136 cover! So you get 2 cool large
drawings drawn on an 11 by 17 Marvel Cover Stock piece of art! Don't
miss out on this really cool piece of Marvel history if you can help it!"

Treasury Edition #24.

That's bizarre-- they retouched a lot more than Hulk's face. The entire drawing has been redone (by Milgrom if I had to take a guess?). Elements have been squished to fit the cover-- look at the diameter of the building in the background.
Is there a signature on that cover? I never would have spotted that cover as JB-- but I agree that the Byrne/Austin drawing is fantastic. Where is that from?

That supporting text from the Romitaman sale of JB's pencil drawings above is funny. Byrne/X-Men is such a selling point now that people will stretch the truth to make such a connection--
that woman in the drawing is clearly NOT in Storm's costume. It's not even close. I hope who ever bought it didn't believe that it was.

Bob Budiansky and Wiacek recreated the full image according GCD. I
suppose that they wanted to use the original image since it was fantastic,
but it didn't fit with the proportions of a comic book, so they decided to
redraw it. Well, this is my speculation...

The woman in black is Bonnie Wilford, since deceased. She was then
Claremont's significant other, later wife, later divorced. Chris asked me to
do the drawing as a gag when they were still together.
And, no, it's not Storm's costume. How could it be??
