I wish I could take credit for it, but someone else showed me how it was done. It looks very clean, did you put more than one layer of the black line to thicken up some of the line that fades with the removal of the color?

Once you get good at converting images to b&w, it gets addictive. Like I said when I am bored I do this all the time.

For whatever reason, I always loved the way the Black Panther is posed in
that splash.

Looks like two different pens at work, Gerry. The larger areas were
probably done with a big fat marker (possibly not even by me, if this was
a con sketch*) and the line work with a finer point that reads lighter.
*Sometimes, doing sketches, people would ask me for characters like this
that required a lot of black, and I did not have a big marker with me, so
I'd indicate the black areas and let the buyer fill 'em in. (Most bizarre
example of what could happen when I did this -- a Darth Vader I did at
one con that the buyer got another pro who was there to finish -- and
since he {the pro} didn't actually have a big black marker, when the buyer
came back he found the areas had been filled in with BLUE!!)

There is, of course, a Grumble to go with that page. Hey! This is ME, right?
I was doing breakdowns on AVENGERS, which mean I was cranking out the
pages in less than an hour each, as opposed to the 2 hours that, say, a
page of X-MEN took. That group shot, tho, even tho it was breakdowns,
took the full two hours, and I was mighty proud of it when it was done.
Unfortunately, I mentioned this fact to Shooter when I turned in the pages
so -- completely coincidentally, I'm sure! -- he got George Perez to do the
same shot for the cover, greatly reducing the impact of my page.
sigh
