JB: "As to the copy, it was supposed to go:
LIL: We've WON! ALPHA FLIGHT is DEFEATED!
FLASHBACK: Thanks to HIM!
Based on that smear of glue above their heads, looks like the copy might
have been there at one point, and was removed. Possibly en route to
the printers it fell off. Or perhaps, Shooter realized the cover would not
work as well without the copy, so ordered it off. "
Since I sold a piece of artwork to Rafael Amat, the owner of this cover, I
commented him abut what JB wrote about the missing caption. He
pointed that he still had it, but it fell off before he did the former scan, so
he glued it again and posted a new image in his CAF gallery. Here it is:
Although it's obvious that Shooter didn't order it off, maybe he changed
the copy and the sense of it according JB's original copy.

I very much love the raw vintage John Byrne pieces. It's very interesting to see the influences on his early work AND to spot style that is so clearly "John Byrne" at the same time.
Nice cover.

Hi. Found this when I was sorting through some stuff this weekend. Wanted to share it with the JB forum. I would have loved to have seen a story featuring these characters in this motif.

Another good test of the Stan Lee school of naming, that old cover. Imagine
you have never heard of nor seen the X-Men before. Based on that image,
which one is Cyclops? Which one is Colossus?
The others. . . . . .
