Jodi has shown, I think, that the Black Widow would be no challenge.

How about Jack of Hearts?

You are an evil, heartless bastard, JB.

I like it!

Aw, JB -- don't encourage her!  At the rate she works, Jodi will have Jack of Hearts Pony AND the entire Legion of Ponyheroes completed before I get the Eaglemoss Marvel Classic Figurine Jack of Hearts completed!

How are you coming with your entries, JOtherB?  I've got one finished that I'm not thrilled with, a 2nd about 98% painted that I like a lot, and a third about half painted that I really like.  After that, time willing, I have a simple repaint planned for sure.

Another figure isn't coming out too well.  I tried doing a large, but brittle, addition with Super Sculpy, but it didn't carve very well after hardening.  If the mood strikes me, I'll try to carve it before baking.

Completely stalled out, Ryan -- haven't touched anything in weeks.  Not sure if I'm going to get EITHER of my projects done in time for the competition.

:-(

On the plus side, I know I WILL get them done eventually, and I'd rather take my time and enjoy the process -- pushing myself for deadlines kind of makes this stuff feel like work, if you know what I mean.

I would definitely recommend doing your sculpting with Super Sculpy BEFORE baking, at least the majority of it.  With my Captain Marvel head, I did the prelim sculpting before baking and then did a lot of sanding/shaping/carving afterwards, but usually I only leave the finish sanding for smoothing and such for after baking.

Keep going, JohnBodin!  I didn't think I'd have time to finish even one custom around dealing with my kids, but I'm about to knock off numbers three and four, even with a single limb breaking off four times in two places on number two.  But I agree, it's way easier and more fun to do these for yourself and not within rules and a deadline.

I hear you, John.  I've been really busy with things other than customizing lately.  The Viper is in a holding pattern until I decide if I want to add lights to it or not.  The figures are about 90% done, just need some detail work to whip 'em into shape.  And I keep thinking about making even more Galactica figures.

Ryan, have you tried any of the alternatives to Sculpey?  Some of the epoxy putties available are highly resistant to breakage; you just need to sculpt them up in a half-hour or so.....
