Mark, are you using multiliners and tech pens for your work? Some of your lines would benefit from tapering to a sharp point. Also line weights. I feel like I have to remind myself constantly to be mindful of line weights until it becomes second nature. Try to give each image a foreground, mid ground and background.

How are you liking being able to print on bristol boards? Printer ink cartridges are not cheap, but loading paper into the copier where I live is $1 per page to print my blue lines from files so in the long run it is less expensive.

Eric,

Sorry, just noticed your comments. Thanks for the tips and input. Yes, I am using pens in a variety of thicknesses, my set also includes a brush pen, but it has a pretty horrible tip.

I am loving being able to print actual pages to ink, I can tell it’s helping already. The downside is my hands are not as steady as they used to be. The iPad allowed me to cheat my straight and curved lines. Having said that, I can assess my line thickness better on paper.

Thanks again for your help!

Mark Haslett—thanks! It’s always nice to hear! These were my first on paper in a long while. I cringe at some things and am really pleased with others.

Mark, since you have the capacity for digital and traditional inking tools I would suggest you not hesitate to bring the line art into the iPad for additional tweaks. Panel 5 of your double page spread looks particularly good with the figure of Jean. The line weights are her legs a perfect. You might consider saving certain elements for digital work that lend themselves to most consistency. For instance, if a steady hand is an issue then do all the small figure work on the iPad after you scan in the page you have already inked.

Opps, just noticed the boat isn't done. I'll fix that later and repost.
