I missed the original in 1976 when it came out. However, there was a  paperback book for the second team up: "Superman and Spider-Man" ("Marvel and DC Comics present the greatest superheroes team-up of all time." - First Printing: June 1981.) It's still in my home office with the other paperback comics reprintings.

Regarding the solicitation I noted above, I think there will be another Spider-Man / Superman solicitation with the February 2026 Westfield Comics order.

Was the original release in a large treasury style format?
That's what I had. I read it until it fell apart.

Yes, the original was tabloid sized.

As was the $&@€ WIZARD OF OZ adaptation, that maybe three people cared about, but that stripped SUPERMAN/SPIDER-MAN of any claim to being the first marvel/DC crossover.
