"I imagine the mohawk is kind of a pain in the neck to draw? Not Havok's headgear difficult, but not something you'd want to draw for 22 pages over 100 issues."

Kinda similar to OMAC, which JB did draw for several pages.

When Byrne made Gladiator hesitate, there was context. He
started doubting himself because he was beating a weaker
opponent and nothing was happening to his foe. Many fans
say Gladiator’s confidence will automatically drop when
he faces stronger opponents, like he gets scared or
something, but that’s not really the point. He has shown
no fear against stronger forces before, such as Phoenix
or even Galactus haha.

I don’t find mohawks particularly difficult to draw. Regular hair is actually trickier!

I destroyed my original copies of X-Men 137 and FF 250 trying to figure out how to draw Gladiator like JB. I never got the hang of the back of the head; was the Mohawk a uniform height all the way back?
