I've heard that the identity of the Red Hulk is....the Marvel Universe version of Joe Quesada!  (maybe not)

The cover posted is a variant cover and the work was by Ed McGuiness (it's signed by Rulk's right foot).

the X-Men. . . . ."

Joe Q not wanting to publish your comic is nothing short of a compliment.

My guess is that they haven't even decided who the Red Hulk is.

Ed McGuiness can draw.  I think he's a pretty good artist myself, it's just that this concept has absolutely no interest for me whatsoever.

I started out interested in this book and the concept of a red Hulk...honestly, I used to love Jeph Loeb's writing, especially on Superman/Batman and the work he did with Tim Sale.  But this series has left me flat.  Visually, I do like Ed McGuiness, who has always done the over muscle thing, but the writing is for lack of a better word, dumb.

I think Ed McGuiness is good.  He does get pretty crazy with the muscular characters but it is his style.  I am with Matt is that the Rulk story just doesn't do a lot for me.

Y'know, I always had a a preference for the Hulk in trunks. Banner's infinitely elastic pants just never, ever seemed to make sense.

I think the elastic pants made more sense when the Hulk
didn't grow quite so large. I may be wrong, but as
originally written, Hulk was a simply a very buff Banner
with some artistic license taken.

Now he gains all of this extra mass from ... somewhere.

The same place as the one from where Wolverine regenerates body tissues.

Red Hulk was Joe Quesada's idea

Sigh. My biggest problem with the Red Hulk story was their giving Doc Samson a haircut. I mean, it's not like he's actually going to lose his powers because of it, but it was a nice character bit. I somehow suspect that the significance of his long hair escaped whoever made the decision.
