If Havok was on the scene instead of Cyclops, could he have provided an equally disruptive force?

I’m surprised to hear some long time Byrne fans hearing the term “Byrne Victim” as a negative. JB embraced the term well over 2 decades ago...

I remember JB talking about it in Next Men... it’s been around for a long time.

================================================

It isn't the term, it's the actual page, and the piracy involved.  I've watched the Facebook thread, concerning the piracy, turn into a non-stop "bash Byrne" affair, with the full support of the person who controls the page.  If I'm not mistaken, and I apologize in advance if I'm wrong, you yourself voiced an opinion sympathetic to the piracy.

I'd think Havok could've been just as disruptive, but he has less control than Cyclops so he would've hit the surfer most likely.

As I said earlier, I get why some would be intimidated to post here as we see the artist respond to our comments about his art, thus making it harder to be a jerk.  Well, maybe just more a 'oh crap I'm caught being a jerk'.  I'm sure many of us want to say very rude things to various politicians (lets not go there) but if you ran into them in person (say at a restaurant or something) you'd find it hard to say those things.  When a person changes from concept to reality it affects things.  By posting here you see that John Byrne isn't just some mega comic book creator who is unreachable but is an actual person who has to deal with power failures, postal mixups, and other real life issues.  But if you stay on Facebook you can make him into anything you want in your mind.  I prefer reality, but enjoy fantasy thus why I'm here instead.

Hopefully it is OK that I've downloaded the images and put them into cbr files for my own enjoyment - figured with no ads on pages that wouldn't be a problem.  Then I can enjoy the issues offline if I so choose and they work better on my tablet.  Now if I tried selling them or posting them elsewhere that would be a no-no.  cbr files are so easy to make, just take the images and zip them up and change the extension to cbr and boom you have a comic book file that is easily opened with many freeware programs.

I'm eager to see how this issue wraps up on Thursday. Just because this story line is going to be resolved doesn't necessarily mean there will be a return to the status quo. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Agreed, Wallace! I have absolutely no idea where this goes from here, and have felt that way with every page. So. Much. Fun!

Can I just say YAY!

The Silver Surfer!
The Uncanny X-Men that I remember!

The one living fella that can still write them with their characters intact!

The best artist still extant!

And my all-time favorite mashup that never happened (that I ever saw) The Silver Surfer and the X-Men.
Granted, there was not much way in feasible plots that would really bring these two entities together, but this would be the one reason! And YES!  What a glory to behold.

Thank you John Byrne.  Thank you for bringing a long time comic book fan's dream come real.  This is really cool.

I am just worried about whose ashes are being referenced in the title of this issue....  Oh man.  This is good.

- A " BIG " thank you -
I sleep better knowing that JB see's the light at the end of the tunnel in this medium we all enjoy so much. Thank you for adding me into the collective. Your pencils and story telling have been pure magic for me these past few months.

The BIG 50 is approaching here and this gift is unlike any I've received over the years. I had the chance seeing Moebius in the 80's and only wished I had the chance seeing you at the Silver Snail in Toronto back in the day. I don't know if you ever visited the shop but the store always put out a warm feeling. Like entering the woods of magic in ancient times.

-Getting back on topic -

Q: When X-Men Elsewhen is all said and done. Would you be upset if someone animated segments of your story ? Like they did with the Black Panther  animated comic that eventually came out on Youtube.

Thanks again and looking forward to what the future brings. Take care. -  Steve -

I'm happy because the Surfer's board has a fin! Maybe he doesn't need it to maneuver the cosmic whatevers he rides, but to me seeing a surfboard without a fin is like seeing a car without a steering wheel. :^)

Today's page: ho lee cow.

Phenomenal use of effects--the krackle, the flame, the blast...the sense of power conveyed in this sequence is amazing.

Speaking of power, I don't think Lilandra is going to come out of this experience in the best of health, let's say.
