A good friend of mine made a cape for her son and let him run off to play superhero. A few minutes later a *THUMP* and then a scream eminated from the lad's bedroom. It seems he decided that "if he had a cape then he could fly" and launched himself off of his bed.

Y'know -- I just don't get it! I started reading superhero comics when I was six years old. Superman wore a cape and flew, Batman wore a cape and didn't. I never for a moment wondered why Batman couldn't fly, or thought that Superman's power of flight came from his cape. Are kids really that misinformed -- or dumb? -- these days?

So, this just occurred to me...clearly the architectural styles of SBM and John Byrne's Next Place (this is my nominee for house name) differ widely...is your current furniture going to "work" in the new house? Does it matter? Inquiring minds and all...

Bed, Schmed. As a kid, friends of mine used to house the school's track and field cushions in their barn, and they would climb up to the top of the barn and dive what must have been fifty feet or more down into these cushions. I never did it myself, but watching them do it reminded me of what Superboy probably would have looked like when he flew.
