Unfortunately, the NY Time is a paywall site.  I believe they do have a one free article policy and/or a gift link.  So here it is a gift link, hope it works.

I get a few gift articles per month; you can read the article for 30 days without a subscription after I share it.

I posted the gift link on my Facebook: Ed Aycock (it's public)

or Twitter/X: Ed Aycock/@infoed

With a portrait by Alex Ross!

When I left the book in 1980, the real world neither noticed nor cared. Now, written up in the TIMES.

Mind boggling.

How was this interview conducted, JB? Are you content with how it was "edited for length and clarity"?

Oh, and speaking of an edit... what did you actually say here instead of "guy"?

>> I look at Washington and go, oh my God, this is the [guy] who I modeled my Lex Luthor in part on, back when he was just a big noise in business in New York. <<

Ah! I didn't think you'd have said something not, well, all-ages. It's good to know the actual word, thank you. I wonder why the NYTimes would shy away from that. Hmph.

I suggested “jerk “ as a substitute, and they rejected that, too!

Yeah.  I hate that it sounds so final... but you've done so much.  We can't get Augustus Gloop greedy.
