…your Generations series is one parallel world in the officialDC Universe. So not an imaginary story, just something happening onparallel universe.••• Nope. As I keep repeating, GENERATIONS is not a parallel universe. It’s an IMAGINARY STORY. It says so on the cover!! Like SUPERMAN 149, “The Death of Superman”. Or “Superman Red and Superman Blue.” Exercises in imagination, not dimension-hopping. I fashioned each chapter as a representation of comics in the years the stories took place. Thus, Superman in 1939 can’t fly, but Superboy, a decade earlier, can. Most of the readers seemed to get it. At least, at the time of publication, there were few complaints about lapses in “continuity”. Unfortunately, GENERATIONS started after the idea of “imaginary stories” was being greeted with a smug “aren’t they all?” Well, no. Even as a ten year old I understood that. But DC editorial had coined the term “Elseworlds” and insisted on labeling GENERATIONS as such, even tho I begged them not to. (They even went so far as to reference GENERATIONS in other stories. R. E. S. P. E. C. T. sigh)
