Yeah, I have a friend who frequently complains about stress dreams pertaining to being unprepared for a law school exam. He’s approaching his 80’s and has been retired from practicing law for nearly two decades.

“School Dreams” are a common phenomenon. There’s even a gag about them in TOP SECRET.

I’ve had two main employers in my life. I do occasionally dream that I give my current job up and return to my old employer. Some of those have been very vivid.
I also, when I first started to drive a minibus, had dreams where I was driving a really tall vehicle - clearly related to the height of a minibus vs a car.
When I started to fly a lot, these morphed into a vertically tall place that would fly between buildings in cities. I had that one a lot.

Not long ago I dreamt of a very good female friend of mine. Long story very short, we both were mourning the death a common, very good friend of ours. Actually, my best (male) friend. When I woke up I was broken hearted, until I realized that it had been just a dream and that he was alive and well and I felt so relieved! A few second later, I remembered that it was her who had died a year before or so.

Every year or so I have the ol' "I forgot to actually complete my diploma and I have to go back to Albany and take a semester of classes to earn it" dream, with scenarios that become more ridiculous as I keep getting older, like having to leave my wife and quit my current job for some time to do so, and I go back to living in a dorm - at my current age.
I know that it's because I graduated with exactly 120 credits, with the extra shame of having failed a class the only time of my life - and immediately after that failed semester, the dean decided to remove all elective requirements - so then I never even had to take the class to begin with! But that stain on my record is there forever.

My son is fascinated by lucid dreaming and has frequently expressed frustration about how rare it is. I believe he’s had one lucid dream in his life.

I've had quite a few lucid dreams, though they're definitely in the minority. If I'm in a situation and I have any doubts as to whether I'm dreaming or not, then I know that I am dreaming since I would not have any doubts if I were awake. In situations where I know I'm dreaming, I like to do something like find an encyclopedia, look up a subject I know nothing about and see what information my subconscious mind fills in about the subject. Usually, the dream shifts to something else first, though, before I learn very much.

This morning I was able to return to a dream. It was kind of weird. I drifted in and out, trying to remember details, then woke realizing I had gone back fully into the dream.

My weirdest dream was waking up to see a huge boulder across my drive making me worry how i was going to get my car out of the garage to get to work. Then there was a rumbling noise and a massive sink hole opening up in the road with a moose (i live in England!) scrabbling with it's front legs to get out of the sink hole. In this dream two of my wife's friends were staying over and were hogging the bathroom. One had an aluminium attache case and she opened it to reveal different parts set in foam that looked like an assassin's rifle, but when she assembled the, it was hair straighteners! In the end i rang in sick to work, and went back to bed. Then i woke up!
Another that was partly lucid, was dreaming i woke up to see a brand new white BMW with a red bow on the bonnet (hood) which i assumed was a gift from my wife. In my dream i was very ungrateful chastising my wife, saying she knew i didn't like BMW's and she knew i prefered red cars, even in my dream i knew i was being ungrateful but couldn't help it! In other's i have been visited by my long dead favourite aunt, but i knew in the dream that it was a dream because she was visiting me at my previous house, as she died before i moved to my current one. The most realistic was our first dog in our marriage visiting me a while after she died. I woke to feel her weight between my ankles and when i looked she was on the bed curled up between them.
