My Leaf had a 110/120 volt charger as an accessory. I could plug it into any "normal" outlet and get a full charge in about 10 hours.

That has long been a concern for people regarding EVs. I'd characterize it as "dramatically overblown." Tesla's charging stations are everywhere and have only increased their accessibility since I bought my Model 3 eight years ago, and last I knew they are usable by non-Tesla EVs if you have the right adapter.
For perspective, longest road trip I've taken was in 2019 when I drove to Indianapolis, from Toronto, then back home after a few nights stop in Chicago. Zero issues with keeping the car charged on that trip, particularly because we timed stops with lunch/dinner breaks.

Ruminating over costs, I suppose I should find out if the Cruiser is salvageable. As expensive as that might be, it would still be cheaper than a new car!

My son in law has a full EV Citroen. It’s the car that you can get badged by
about four different makes, but they are all the same car.
He got a low mileage version, so he has to charge on long journeys.
He quickly learnt that a fast charge to 80% that gets you to where you are
going is better than a much longer charge to full battery.
That last 20% takes forever.

JB: visor.vin is a great car search engine. I see a decent number of PT Cruisers in CT. I'll probably do the same thing if my wagon ever dies.

We have a Chevy Bolt EUV- it's out 2nd after being rear ended at a high speed, the bolt was totlaled but we were safe to its credit.
Affordable, peppy, decent range. I will always consider en electric as my primary car going forward.
Love having a charger at my house, feels very futuristic to "gas" up at my own house!
