Awesome commission again by the maestro! Phoenix versus The Silver Surfer, wow that would have been a close fight to call. Tie sounds good to me as well.

Yeesh... there's no where to go but down now... I can't think of a better commission pic."

O come on, Brad... all the ideas you listed sounds great and intriguing... and in the hands of the master... would you truly bet against JB taking on of those ideas and actually toping this one?
Remember JB draws a mean Doom and a mean Mephisto.

JB wrote (on Famke Janssen as Phoenix):
"I supposed it tell us much about Hollywood, that the casting director looked at lush, voluptuous Jean Gray and cast a stick."

Aren't casting directors' eyes actually somehow broken? It's a bit like comparing Picasso's cubism to real life... There are eyes and noses there, but rarely in the right places. ;)

I planned the Annual as a one-shot "Special", tapping into what was, at the time, the only clear "untold tale" involving the "new" X-Men.---JB

JB---

If M***** did this story with another writer and artist in 2007, would they have to give you credit or could they steal it?

"I supposed it tell us much about Hollywood, that the casting director looked at lush, voluptuous Jean Gray and cast a stick."

and Wolverine was 6'2.

And - with small and notable exceptions - pretty much every other casting and scripting move in the various recent Marvel movies...

And now the story - or at least a version of it - has been told.

I don't think I've ever seen this one before. It predates my time on the forum.

The Surfer and Phoenix do make for an interesting matchup, because they are both so incredibly powerful... And as Jim said above, we did get to see a version of it! Now to go back and read the relevant issue of Elsewhen.
