Did you add a digital grey wash? I just want to be clear about what I'm seeing.

I think you did a great job with all the technological doohickeys, which must take a lot of time and patience to ink. Personally, I'm not crazy about the shading here. In some areas, it is working as shadow, but in others it just seems to operate almost as a colouring delineation and I'd prefer it was used consistently. As a whole, I think it makes the work look a little less clean. Good stuff though on the black-line work.

Craig that page is nicely done. Like Peter said above, I know there was a lot of work going into the details on that page. The one thing that I could suggest is the gradual fading of blacks just using inks. This was very helpful to me when someone (I forget who) suggested that my blacks were in stark contrast to the light on an earlier post. In some cases it is necessary but what I have tried to train myself to do is add extra fade lines and white ink, feathering to make the black shadows fade naturally into the lighter areas. This example was initially drawn mostly as stark black and white. I have tried to add some fade lines even though in this cased the costumes are very dark and shiny. I'm not at all saying I have perfected it - I'm constantly learning and I can see better results.

Excellent work on that Paul. Top notch!
Those subtle fades are the "Tom Palmer touch".

Elsewhen #32, page 14, inks. Giving some extra attention to a Jean-Memory/Phoenix fantasy page.

Thanks Steven. It reminds me of a scene from The Thing or Altered States. I particularly liked how the hair turned out. And his expression carries some pathos, which I hope I captured in the inks.

Really enjoyed inking this page because it allowed for freehand inks (for the most part). I also love these Byrne fantasy village scenes. It evokes a bit of Alan Aldridge (the guy who drew the EJ Captan Fantastic cover). On a final note - wondering what was used as reference. I can't imagine this was drawn from memory! *Issue 32 p 13

I started experimenting with this page again. In addition to making some inking changes, I'm learning a little more with how to clean/tweak from Photoshop for making it look its best. This is one of the ones I'm closest to being happy with. Now I'm fighting myself from going back and re-working all the others.
