Does "Bjorn Hyne" truly have that much lore? Except for a reputation of inking John Byrne... and who would really know who that is in the end?

Eric, you do know who "Bjorn Heyn" really is, right? He's not "Bjorn Hyne", in any event.
Basically, it's a cool in-joke, and, yes, a piece of John Byrne "lore", that feels somewhat tainted by someone else hijacking the name to play off of it in whatever manner.

Oh, and before there's a big discussion over the semantics of it, here is the definition of the word "lore": a body of traditions and knowledge on a subject or held by a particular group, typically passed from person to person by word of mouth.
I'd say it applies, in this situation.

It’s why I confess to being a legend, legends being stories that are mostly not true.

Regardless of how it's spelled, it still feels cheap and they're attempting to "steal" from JB.

Assuming positive intent, I could see the person viewing it as a tribute similar to a homage or even swipe.
It’s an interesting subject though, the intellectual property rights of a pseudonym.

No, it's to create "controversy" to generate revenue.
And here we are.

The book literally has over twenty inkers listed of which 'Hyne' is one. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that this wasn't to generate controversy or buzz or whatnot, if only because it's one name buried in such a long list of credits.

Well, with no more Cons for me, at least I won’t have to spend my few remaining years declining to sign the issue. (Unlikely? I draw your attention to the number of times I was asked—sometimes belligerently—to sign the cover of ALPHABET SUPES 1, even tho I had nothing to do with it. Amazon still lists me as the cover artist.)

It is no secret Liefeld has wanted to work with you for many years now. I wonder if this is his way of finally achieving that fantasy.

If that’s Liefeld’s “fantasy” this is just one more thing (on a long list) that guarantees it will never happen.
