A fabulous splash-page.

Can really feel the weight in the freshly fallen snow.

This issue already has the kid in me excited.

That's such a great depiction of recent snow! Loads of different textures.

Welcome back, team.

Love this page! I like how Kitty and Peter are making their way through this winter wonderland, game faces on and ready (they hope) for what lies ahead. I'm not sure they'll want this Christmas present once they unwrap it though...

Great depiction of Kitty in mid-trudge!

The snow atop the small branches is a cool scene.

How long ago was this page teased!? And here we finally are.

JB, is it common throughout your career to have done pages long before they were published?

IMHO, the finest depictions of snow were produced by (Carl) Giles, the legendary editorial cartoonist for theDaily Express in the England of my youth. Truly amazing use of negative space. I've never come close.

My personal preference is a lead time of at least six months. Usually it comes closer to four.

On ELSEWHEN I was about eight issues ahead when I started posting, but I have seen that lead chipped away by time and tide. Currently, I'm only about two issues ahead of what you're seeing.

(I was five months ahead for most of my run on HIDDEN YEARS, but editorial incompetence still lead to two issues--including the FIRST!!--shipping late. This stripped me of the ability to say no book of mine had ever shipped late, without appending "because of anything that was my fault.")

I love the splash page! I was just randomly thinking about Christmas over the weekend and now I see this. I really like the sense of snowfall here...I can practically feel the cold emanating from the page!
