Thanks Paul. I was in too big a rush to post it earlier today.

I was just reading his career. I didn't not know Neal
fought for creators' rights like returning artwork or
getting paid when the characters were used outside of
comics.

It's really been terrible news. :^(

Neal Adams definitely contributed a lot in saving Batman from the kitschy-campy '50s and '60s version, no restrictions of trying to have a Bob Kane style. Generally every time he drew a character he redefined them; added weight and presence more than was there before. His Superman (and Superboy) also felt more real than he ever had before. Sort of the other end of a spectrum from Wayne Boring and John Forte. Mac Raboy is about the only artist before him to work on superheroes I can think of who brought something like that level of quality.

Irreplaceable!

John Byrne, John Buscema and Neal Adams: my Mount Olympus of cartoonists and my most formative drawing influences.

As a child, I would have never imagined that one day I would meet and converse with all three of my comic book artist heroes. Of them all though, Neal was The One.

I didn't know him personally but I was acquainted with him through numerous conversations over the years since he returned to the convention circuit and when I heard the news, so many cherished memories came to mind. I'm unashamed to say that some tears were dropped as I reminisced and reflected. He was always generous, gracious and kind to me. As were JB & Big John.

To have lived in a time where I was able to meet many of my creative heroes and influences including these titans and taken the opportunity to give them thanks for being a significant part of my life is a gift I will never take for granted.

RIP Neal Adams . I was very fortunate in getting to meet Neal at the last Toronto Convention . I normally don't go to conventions but John B was making an appearance and I didn't know that Neal was going to attend . It was a very memorial day.

I've been trying to remember if the last time I saw Neal was Boston or Toronto. Now I know! Thanks, Larry!

This is the piece I watched Neal draw in the break room at DC back in 1971.

(And, no, this is not the drawing that's been missing in my studio for decades!)
