Gerrymandering should be made a lot more difficult to accomplish. There may be valid reasons for changing the boundaries of a district, but they should be just that: valid, as opposed to simply serving to thwart the political will of the majority.

Texas has been gaining more blue voters, but the new map looks more red.

Oversight offices and ethics committees have slowly atrophied away over the past few/four decades; empty offices, committees that rarely or never meet... Republicans have tended to be most allergic to them and want them gone, though there have been a few Dems here and there as well. Checks and balances removal leads to imbalance and things like people in office doing things for a future pay off of a lobbying position or some other top corporate private placement (something arbitrary term limits would only encourage by the way).

Texas has a lot of positive unique qualities, it'd be a major loss, and I suspect (as with Alaska) a lot of the real tall talker revolters only pretend not to know how much most people there receive being in the U.S. How much in federal disaster and oil and other resource development funding does Texas and Texans receive comparatively? I'm thinking it'd rank easily in the top twenty of states many years.
