There are some some subscriptions which can not be avoided, but I have managed to keep a perpetual license for Civil3D. Year after year I would get the pitch to switch to subscription. With the promise of getting the best and brightest at minimal cost, just give up your perpetual license. I always refused, they never offered enough, for the software I had invested  so much in year after year.

You can try the following software:

* Photoshop: Gimp, Krita
* Ms Office: Libreoffice
* Adobe reader: Okular, Pdfgear
* Illustrator: Inkscape
* Lightroom: Darktable

Thanks everyone!

I might be keeping my subscription with Adobe for a while longer. My daughter reminded me of the sharing capabilities of the Creative Cloud Suite, It allows the software on multiple machines and two users can access different applications at the same time. I'll probably get GIMP to avoid conflicts with simultaneous  Photoshop use.

The Libreoffice looks like something to also use.

Thanks again.
