I'd say Kerry Gammill. I know he worked in the field for a solid 12 years, and came back intermittently in the 90's for Superman projects, but always felt he should have made a bigger splash.
Mike Carlin was interviewed recently for the Superman Homepage and he was of the opinion when he brought Kerry to Superman that e would be the next great Superman artist, but did say that Gammill did find the monthly deadlines a struggle.

Two guys that were a big part of my childhood were Frank Robbins and Herb Trimpe--and then they were gone! Long before death or retirement.
I still see a lot of familiar names when I go to cons. Mark Teixiera comes to mind--I always thought his style was ahead of the curve as far as coolness went, but I haven't seen his name in a comic for 20 years--except for the JONAH HEX/YOSEMITE SAM special in 2017, which was great. He should by drawing MOON KNIGHT right now, or a number of other books.

I'd agree from 1990 - 1993, he was all over Marvel big sellers like GHOST RIDER, PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL and Wolverine, and then seemed to just slow down and disappear before doing a MOON KNIGHT mini with Doug Moench in 1999, and kicking off the first 4 issues of BLACK PANTHER with Christopher Priest.
He had another stint on MOON KNIGHT circa 2007 - 2008, but seems to have disappeared sonce then.

That cover is quite a piece, but the costume redesign was not well thought out! "Let's a guy in a blue costume in the blue ocean!"
Might as well put Star Boy or that one Donna Troy star field outfit in space!

I'll add Chuck Patton to the list.
He had a clear style and only one real major run on a title with Gerry Conway on JLA from 1983 - 1985. The rest seemed to be fill ins or two parters across a spectrum of DC titles.
