I was in a well-known UK pharmacy on Saturday, being served by a young girl. Whilst dealing with me, she was also having a conversation with another female colleague, describing the latest Rimmel lipliner as 'cute'.
God, I'm old.
I remember when 'cute' was used to describe baby animals or someone that you wanted to go out with!

David McCallum, in his days as Illya Kuriakin, saidhe did not like being called “cute.”“That’s an American word I hate,” he said. “A litter of mongrel puppies is ‘cute’.”

She would have meant the lipliner would look cute on her. This is a very common way of saying you like something or that something will make you look better. Not a young person thing at all. Been around for decades. I'm 53.

As a high school teacher I’m surprised “cute” made the list of confusing things said by young people.

No one ever called Pierce Brosnan cute. Handsome, breathtaking, macho, sophisticated maybe. Not cute.

I was told i looked cute a couple of years ago by a female friend in her 50's. I'm a balding chap in my early 60's!

All babies are cute. They are short, fat and bull-legged.

Nepo baby seems strange to me. A 80 yr old can be a nepo baby. If some does something on their own, should be they be an independent baby?

Nope. It was used to describe an inanimate object. A young colleague of mine called a nice pen 'cute' a few weeks ago. Maybe it's a new Brit thing...

I am cute and will soon be getting old. In a few years. I am at the age were 50 or 60 years ago most people were old and it did show. We still look relatively young above 50.
Now, above 60 that's another thing, but even so people are still often in a good shape. More or less.
I will begin to worrie when i reach 70 (if i do.)
I am 54. An adult who remember the kid he was, and tries to stay fresh and faithful to him and mature at the same time.
