Just been announced that Gerry Conway has sadly passed away.
He was always a favourite writer of mine and made contributions to Marvel and D.C. that still stand today.

Wow, just heard about this in the last half hour. Absolutely stunned. A true titan of the comics field, co creating many of the most recognisable and well loved characters, still seen today. RIP.

Way back when I was just a youngster, it was Conway's stories that introduced me to both the Justice League of America and Wonder Woman. I doubt I would have delved into those and other DC titles if not for his efforts.
Thanks for the great reading, sir. You will be missed. Rest in peace.

If you want to experience true "keeping it real," I highly recommend Gerry's intros to his Marvel Masterworks books. His frankness around what he considers good, not very good, and downright awful (and the reasons why) are quite an entertaining and enlightening read.

Nice words from, arguably the most "important" voice at Marvel right now, Kevin Feige: "Gerry Conway brought real stakes to his writing, able to weave together sensational super heroics with the human and relatable, and in doing so created some of the most memorable stories and characters of all time," shares Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. "His writing has been hugely impactful across our comics, but it has also inspired so much of what we’ve done on screen, from Werewolf by Night to Daredevil to Spider-Man and Punisher. Gerry was a wonderful collaborator and friend to so many and will be dearly missed."

Also, only 73... seems like such a small number these days.

Did not realize he was this young.
Writing comics in his early 20s while I was just beginning to read/collect comics at age 10.
He will be missed.
