An example of one of my blue-line breakdowns, darkened using a histogram adjustment available in Jasc Paint Shop Pro.  The character below is a young lady from the "post-X" style adventurer team which features the Mandragore character that I posted late last month.

She's supposed to be generating a luminous biokinetic energy ball in her left hand.  The idea I had here was to have the light from the energy field illuminating her so that part of her face was in a deep shadow.

And now for a couple of really odd things that I put down in the sketchbook last year.  I had originally created the characters Jenny (the girl in the post above) and Yui as fan-fiction characters set in the Marvel (oops!) universe as a sort of counterweight to the X-Men and their then-protegés, Generation X.  I've since moved 'em out of the fan-fiction realm and am incorporating them into my own "post-X" universe.

However, I do occasionally like to play around a bit, as these blue-line breakdowns will show.   The target of my little rumble below is the current incarnation of Marvel's "New X-Men", who had been put through a wringer in the Decimation "event" of last year and finally earned the current powers at Marvel my contempt...

Yui taking on a the current creative team's pet Wolverine-clone...

Jenny using her all-purpose bioenergy manipulation powers on the team's "T9000" shapeshifter...

You may notice the image that shows up in the background -- the scanner actually registered the partial illustration of Mandragore done on the next sheet in the sketchbook (this is from a Strathmore 500 Series sketchpad, so the paper is quite thin, allowing stronger images to "bleed" through the sheet being scanned).  Perhaps at a later date, I may upload that one.
