There's a decent TV series in there somewhere. HEROES FOR HIRE.

Street-smart ex-con with super-strength and steel-hard skin.

Also street smart, sometimes undercover, super-sexy cop with a bionic arm.

A samurai.

And someone trained in martial arts in a mystical land. A fish out of water...

And they're private detectives.

Oh, the fish and the cop are the ones that hook-up.

You can start the series off with Danny and Colleen already working as private eyes together. Of course, we'd see bits and pieces of Danny's past (and their joint history) in flashback. In the first episode, the two of them end up on the same trail as a certain Hero for Hire and bionic cop.

It'll never happen...but it's nice to dream...

Fantastic piece!
The original cover artwork has always been a favorite of mine!  Surprised to learn that it's Dave Cockrum's work!  Doesn't look like his art style at all to me.

I own the Iron Fist run just for JB's art. Not a real fan of the character, but look at the pic Rafael posted. That is just great design for the time!

Totally agree!!! I'm actually shocked Marvel hasn't tried to do this as a TV series by now!!! It's a real no-brainer that wouldn't be hard to pull off!!

IIRC, Dave did all the background work. Mike Zeck did the 2 main figures in the foreground.

There are rumors that the hooded individual shown leaping from the building in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. trailer is supposed to be Luke Cage. Not exactly the same thing, but who knows where it may lead.

I'd love to see Marvel's "street level" characters like Daughters of the Dragon, White Tiger, Daredevil, Power Man & Iron Fist, etc. make appearances on the show.

Hell, I'd welcome Brother Voodoo, as well! Always liked him.

This was the first I had heard of Mike Zeck's name mentioned for the original characters.  I have heard the same as what JB stated in his first post, that it was Rich Buckler who did the original characters of Power Man and Iron Fist, but that cover was rejected.  They were then added as stats onto the original backgrounds by Dave Cockrum to create the published cover.

Here is the original, rejected art for the Buckler version:

Note, this rejected cover is signed "Validar & Inker" in pencil.

And here is the original art for the published Cockrum version:

I think I would have preferred the size and tilt of the two main figures in
the original.

Marvel teamed Cable and Deadpool sometime in the past decade for an ongoing series, and there are other historical precedents like Atom and Hawkman and Green Lantern/Green Arrow, but combining two underperforming titles seems like an underused concept, doesn't it?  I can't be the only one who'd have bought a Ghost Rider/Dazzler book, or Booster Gold/Blue Beetle, or Quasar/Sleepwalker, or...well, maybe I would have been.
