Sometimes the original costume isnt as good as a later version for a character... What would be versions of costumes characters changed to that were better than the original?
For me my list would be...
Daredevil Red costume over Red and Yellow
Sub-Mariner Black Armor over green swim trunks
Captain Britain Alan Davis costume over the Red suit
Wolverine brown costume or yellow and blue
Adam Warlock Starlins costume with cape over original Lightning bolt outfit
Angel Neal Adams costume over any he has ever worn

Superman's symbol, red/yellow over red/black. Captain Atom, silver metal with blue/red versus the two older costumes. The Question, dark blue suit versus pale blue suit, orange shirt, and yellow tie (eek!). Dr Fate - full helmet and large belt versus half helmet, ring shoulder epaulet things, and collar.

Personally, I like the Legion costumes from the 70's over their original costumes. I even prefer them to most of the modern costumes (though Chris Sprouse's uniform-like designs were really nice).
-I prefer Green Lanter with green shoulders as opposed to without. -Kid Flash's yellow costume over the mini-Flash one.

Angel into the Adams black and white.
Black Widow into the catsuit.
Ms. Marvel into the black and gold.
Orion out of that ridiculous Captain Cheerios variant!
Hawkman into anything closer to Kubert!

Black Widow's black full-body costume with yellow bracelets over the '60s look (complete with bouffant hair style!)
(Sorry; JB beat me to it!)

The ALL-STAR COMICS version of Hawkman, gold helmet.
Green Arrow's "Silver Age" look. Goatee.
Captain America "Silver" over "Golden".
Doom Patrol's red and white classics over the green originals.
Batman blue and gray with yellow oval over black/gray black bat symbol.
Box II red/silver over Box I blue/silver.

"Captain Britain Alan Davis costume over the Red suit"
Yep.
"Ms. Marvel into the black and gold."
Agreed.
I'd add the Fantastic Four in the costuming they acquired during JB's run. I liked the change. It looks better to me. Indidividual results may vary on that though.

Timberwolf's Grell look over the original T-Wolf.
Better than original.
Robin from Earth 2 uniform.
Atom Smasher over Nuke all day long.

In no order:
Green Arrow into the Adams' uniform (although I like Kirby's
take on the original suit!). I didn't like Grell's baggy suit with the
hood and fat stiches either (always liked the hat with the
feather).
Original Atom uniform back from the various changes
(Barbarian/ commando/ hair showing). BTW: I really like it
when Bolland draws him in this suit (but then I don't think he's
ever drawn ANYONE poorly!).
OMAC in as drawn by Byrne in his minseries. One of the few
times black leather was cool!
The Thing into his dinosaur hide from his "cute" rock-man
period. I still remember the uneasy feeling I had when Ben
stepped out of that chamber looking like a monster. Not every
artist can pull it off but I still prefer when he is drawn this way
over the rocky- hide thing.
Classic red and yellow Iron Man. Never liked the "high tech"
and color variants that came after or the robot-type armors that
came before.
Blue Bettle (Ditko) over the chain-mail uniform of the GA Blue
Beetle.
Wonder Girl (all red) from the mini Wonder Woman uniform.
Wonder Man into black uniform JB drew in WCA from the red
safari jacket, sun glasses and tights that came before.
Most of the LSH uniforms during Giffen's period away from the
"too naked" Grell and "too swashbuckly" Cockrum periods.
How about villians?
Magneto back to his Kiby armor and away from the big "M" of
the Romita Jr. suit.
Dr. Phosphorous to his cool business suit away from his crazy
skeleton in cut off shorts look.
Luthor (he's my favorite). I like most of them: Fat guy in
prison uniform; Perez battle suit; JB's fat business man; even
Ross's purple and green tech-terrorist look. I didn't care too
much for skinny business suit Luthor (after JB); red-headed
long-haired Australian Luthor; or camo-pants buffed-up Luthor.
