I always took it that Adam X, the blonde mutant that showed up from the shi'ar empire was supposed to be the third brother, or at least thats what they were pushing for and hinting at.

Fabian Nicieza (who had started the "third brother" subplot) mentioned in interviews that Adam X was indeed meant to be that brother (or halfbrother). Gambit as third Summers was always only fan speculation based on Gambit's red eyes.

Anyone know what the deal was with Whilce? Was he just the slowest penciller in history or was there more to his demise than that? Remember "Wetworks"? There were advertisements in Image comic books for that title literally two years or more before it ever debuted! Then it lasted a handful of issues and I haven't heard of Portacio since...

His sister died while he was drawing number one. That put him out of drawing for a while. He is currently working on another Wetworks series for Wildstorm.

He also did the first dozen or so issues of the late Stormwatch: Team Achilles book. Great stuff, really like his art.

I was going to put that in, but I couldn't remember the name of the book.

One xmen character I really like is maggot. He is a black man from South Africa and has two symbiotes for his intestinal system. He is totally cool. I don't know what he is doing now.

Whilce also pencilled a few issues of the Heroes Reborn IRON MAN series.  His Hulk was absolutely massive.

Don't know anything about this character, and this description is not helping matters. Ick.

Plus about half the issues of Heroes Reborn Iron Man.

Been looking for examples of nineties comic art off and on over the last year or so that I have regained a little interest in comics...much of it has a similar 'feel' to it, what I have understood is the Image style, and having just googled whilce portacio it seems his art (at least on the x-men) is a slightly more elegant version of the same stuff...am I doing him a disservice?  On first impressions I would find this kind of style too distracting from the story - too much going on in each panel, story at service of the artwork, that sort of thing

That character, and Marrow (imagine the visual, and you've just created the same character!) were the two straws that broke my back on the X-Men.  I realized, these weren't my father's X-men. They weren't even MY X-Men.  So I dropped the book, and only glanced back on one other occasion, and my worst fears were confirmed, I know not the team of mutants anymore.

Yeah, I didn't mention that one because I figured I was the only one here that actually liked that series. I loved his armor design and his Hulk.
