The White Queen was Chris' idea. So was Arcade.

Outside of rumor is there a grain of truth that Bishop was supposed to be the "X-Traitor" but Marvel changed it to Xavier? And if so is there any articles, sites, etc that state it?

Hey! I remember that X-Traitor thing. No idea how that story played out.
Xavier you say? Can anyone provide a rough idea of how that story
unfolded?

I elieve it was Onslaught that was the X-Traitor, so Prof. X.  They played out the whole "lost video" of Jean warning of the traitor.

Do I have that right?  I stopped reading X-Men long before then.

So had I. The last one I'd read at that time, had
Bishop in the future talking to his mentor, an aged
Gambit. I took the early 90's off and focused on
meeting women. I kept up by reading a lot of the stuff
my friends collected. A lot of the 90's was a sad time
for comic book fans, very sad.

OK. Rumor firist. From what I heard (after the fact and by Marvel Zombies), Bishop was supposed to be the X-Traitor. He was so dis-illusioned by what the X-Men really were compared to the stories he grew up with he snapped or something (everyone seemed to have it's own lil idea on this). As soon as everyone started spouting stories that it was Bishop they changed the storyline.

What happened in the books is that all the repressed emotions Xavier had (including the love he had for Jean that hadn't been brought up since Stan/Jack) surfaced after Xavier mindwiped Magneto. This created the being Onslaught and the "X-Traiter" was revelead to be Xavier.

I know JB doesn't like to reveal storylines that were a wash, and to be honest after the b.s. with the Scarlet Witch currently harking to his AWC run I sure as heck don't blame him. I'm just curious if anyone else has heard this or not.

I remember reading that Jim Lee once revealed that the traitor was originally indeed meant to be Gambit (remember there was always something fishy about him during the Claremont-written issues), but eventually he proved too popular.

I don't remember the source though, so take this with a grain of salt.

Wasn't Gambit also suppose to be the "long lost
Summers brother "?
