Which reminds me of the old debate as to whether or not the X-Men could/should be able to hold their own in their own book without an assist. It always seemed proper to me that they should be able to ---cuz I always cheer loudest when the X-Men hand some bad guy the business. They're not disabled --- they're enhanced. So them kicking Magneto's butt underneath the volcano, or stopping Moses Magnum in his tracks, or turning the tables on the Hellfire Club... well, yes --- they spend hours every day in a combat school.
The Danger Room is like training at Top Gun for superheroes --- they should be able to kick butt on their own.
Pardon the drift, but this is why the Joss Whedon/John Cassaday "ASTONISHING" run was so good. For 1.) that was arguably the best Cyclops arc ever written, and 2.) they got knocked down a lot but always got back up and kicked the bad guys' butts even harder. If they didn't possess the raw power for whatever reason, then they made up for it with guile.
Apologies to Mr. Worf.
