Great page today. Always love JB's Spidey in poses and in action shots.

I'm happy to see the arm pit webs on Spider-Man.
Also I always like the in motion shots where part of the images are drawn without the details of the webbing on the red parts of his uniform.

We must have been very good to deserve TWO pages of Spider-Man and three pages of the FF previously! That beats any methadone that I can think of!
Also, this may be the first time I've heard someone who is not in the Fantastic Four refer to Yancy Street. Well, or a citizen of Yancy Street. Dem bums. Makin' Dodger fans look classy and stylish.

A part of me cringes every time I reference Yancy Street. In part, because of Mark Gruenwald’s fanboy drive to identify it with Delancy Street. And in part because of the MARVEL 2-IN-1 that showed the Yancy Street gang were ADULTS. Talk about not getting it! Leave well enough alone, guys!!

I swoon when I see echoes of Ross Andru in your work.

Altho I didn’t think Ross was quite the right “casting” for Spider-Man—his figures tended to be somewhat stiff and blocky—there’s no denying he turn out a truly phenomenal run on AMAZING. And, of course, SUPERMAN vs THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN.

Your figures are anything but stiff. One of the things I love about your art is the fluidity of the figures. Case in point - that second panel where Spider-man is doing acrobatics!

I always thought that, too. Given the stiffness of his poses, it SHOULDN'T have worked, but somehow it did!

Your figures are anything but stiff. ••• I took a few things of value out of Art College. One was “gesture drawing”, where the live model would strike a pose for no more than 10 seconds and our job was to capture the movement—gesture—without getting hung up on the details. It’s served me well.

Never heard of Delancy Street. Yancy Street is its own special place in the Marvel Universe for me.

Oddly enough, speaking of characters who should exhibit fluidity, Ross Andru was the first artist I ever saw draw Nightcrawler!I’m sure that the artist that I call “Ross Andru“ is actually an amazing gam of Andru, Esposito, Giacoia, and Romita, etc. It worked for me back then though; it became its own world in those pages. Crawling on walls, or just sitting on a stairwell with his head in his hands, Peter Parker became so real to me during that run. The horizontal panel in today’s page is the one that brought me down memory lane. l
