Here's some more great Kirby CAP!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #198 by Jack Kirby & Frank Giacoia
It's hard to make a concept like this work, but dang if it doesn't!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #199 by Jack Kirby & Frank Giacoia
Again, it's great to see the Falcon get half the powerful cover!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #200 by Jack Kirby & Frank Giacoia
Another iconic image!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #201 by Jack Kirby & Frank Giacoia
I think Kirby enjoyed working on the Falcon, a character he never got to do anything with during his previous decade at Marvel.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #202 by Jack Kirby & Frank Giacoia?
Cool stuff!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #203 by Jack Kirby & Frank Giacoia
So heroic!  I haven't seen this Cap for a very long time.

More Kirby Cap!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #204 by Jack Kirby & John Verpoorten
I can feel the debris!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #205 by Jack Kirby & Joe Sinnott
More Kirby Falcon!  (I point this out only because he often didn't get co-star coverage.)

CAPTAIN AMERICA #206 by Jack Kirby & Frank Giacoia
I always appreciated Marvel's "floating heads"!  It enabled the cover to be about anything, but still show the stars of the book.  Did any other company ever really practice that?

CAPTAIN AMERICA #207 by Jack Kirby & Frank Giacoia (with Romita)
A little espionage feel, which I think is important for Cap (and one of the best things from the Ed Brubaker run).

CAPTAIN AMERICA #208 by Jack Kirby & Joe Sinnott
Great monster!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #209 by Jack Kirby & John Verpoorten
Arnim Zola's first cover appearance!  (Everybody loves Zola!)

Here's the rest of the Kirby CAP covers!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #210 by Jack Kirby & John Verpoorten
Kirby's Red Skull is very effective.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #211 by Jack Kirby & John Verpoorten?
Another tiny cover Arnim Zola.  Too bad Kirby didn't give him a major cover appearance since he's probably everybody's favorite villain from this run.

CAPTAIN AMERICA #212 by Jack Kirby & John Verpoorten
Drama!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #213 by Jack Kirby & John Verpoorten
Falcon gets a solo cover!

CAPTAIN AMERICA #214 by Jack Kirby & John Verpoorten
A nice end to a solid run.

Shared by Steve Leialoha:
"Machine Man #7
The actual printed version was done by Simonson & Austin...
This is a mock-up that I assembled from Jack Kirby's version (with my inking and color). It was rejected by Stan Lee as being "too weird!" He may have had a point."

I wonder if he meant number 6?  Number 7 is credited to Kirby/Austin and looks like it, whereas number 6 (below) is straight-up Simonson (and EXcellent).

Cool unseen artwork, Mark!  Thanks!

And here are the surrounding MACHINE MAN covers!  With some surprising inkers!  (Hmm...these could go in the "One-Shot Pairings" thread too!)

MACHINE MAN #5 by Jack Kirby and Joe Rubinstein

(The actual) MACHINE MAN #7 by Jack Kirby and Terry Austin

MACHINE MAN #8 by Jack Kirby and Bob Wiacek

MACHINE MAN #9 by Jack Kirby and Bob Layton

I quite like the "weird" cover.

Yeah, I do too. I think it would definitely stand out on the rack.

Hey Eric,

I'm loving these 70's Kirby Kovers!

Can you post his cover work from AVENGERS Annual 6, please?

Thanks!

In years past I represented the Jack Kirby Museum in local comic conventions. To highlight the extend of Jack's career I put together slide shows of his covers and splash pages and displayed them on a television screen. This thread has been fun to watch as the page count went up and the images were posted.

The images I used were captured in a database for easy additions and sorting. Querying the database by range of years (1970 - 1979), publisher (Marvel), and type (cover), returns 356 rows. Many of these covers are re-used from original series into reprint series such as Marvel's Greatest Comics. Marvel was putting out more reprinted Kirby covers per month than DC was putting out while Jack was working for DC.

There are a few cover pencils within the database and I will share them over the next few days.

Here is the first, from Giant-Size Conan #5 January 1975.
