That’s a tricky term, creative. How much are we prepared to trade storytelling clarity for clever pictures?Seeing the question, the first thing that jumped into my mind was that Neal Adams Deadman page where all the panels combine to form the hero’s face.

BTW, TwoMorrows published an amazing book way back called Panel Discussions that interviewed about a dozen artists about page design and panel arrangement. It is very eye opening.

I'm not sure if this qualifies, but I always loved the cover of Thor 337, the first issue of Simonson's run, because not only was Beta Ray Bill replacing the Thor you knew as the character, but also his logo, as the new masthead of issue 338 demonstrated.

I can't swear this shot from COLD WAR is the most creative, but it is one by our host that comes to mind.

Of course Adams was an all-time genius, but that page from X-Men #57 is confusing to the eye as a reader. The panel flow is counterintuitive. In an interview in Comic Book Artist #3, Adams himself said:
"If I were doing it today, I possibly would reverse this page, so I would have the last panel down in the lower right-hand corner."
I think it would flow much better that way.
