Yeah. I don’t get that at all.

It's been a while since it was mentioned, but remember we aren't to try to guess where the plot is going. JB has put a lot of time into this, let us not ruin a plotline by trying to beat him to the punch.

Let go on the the ride and see where he takes us!

Manuel - IS anyone ever an ex-X-Man? Or, to coin a phrase - once an X-Man, always an X-Man?

It would seem, from "Fate of the Phoenix", that when the word went out, Hank and Warren couldn't get there fast enough (and, had Bobby not been grossly omitted, I'll bet a nickel that he'd have been on the first express. Ditto that for Lorna and Alex and Sean.)

I can't think of too terribly many other times that X-Men were part of other teams... Hank was an Avenger, Bobby and Warren were Defenders, Storm was (ever so briefly) a member of the Fantastic Four*, Kitty and Kurt were members of Excalibur... but in every case (such as the forming of X-Factor), when Professor X or Cyclops sounded the clarion call, they were on the way post haste.

That might apply here, I reckon - which, of course, would be just FINE with me! ALL the X-Men together? Drawn by Mr. Byrne? I'll take an order of that!

*Interesting the way team names are broken down to individual members. One can be an Avenger, a Champion, a Defender, an Inhuman, an Invader, a New Mutant... but no one is a Fantastic, a Four, or even a Fantastic Four. Maybe an FF'er, but that seems a bit of a cheat.

Today's page: Is that Alex and Lorna? What a great page. That cabin / opening
door scene's moodiness and setting looks straight out of Halloween or Friday
the 13th. Hope they haven't been doing anything unchaste, cause that
would mean...

The shot of the Sentinel in silhouette through the door is nicely creepy.

Pages 4-6 all have some of the most varied textures and patterns I have ever seen on a JB page. It is just pencil lines, but so many of them mean something completely different. Lights and shadows, fabrics, etc. make these three pages a visual feast.

The Sentinels really do kind of rely on shock and awe tactics.

I didn't check on Friday, so had a nice treat of two pages to read today. I like how you play up the scary factor for the Sentinels. Sentinels coming through a roof is always a winner. And the drapes in today's page! Every page is a visual feast.

Yes. These Sentinel attacks in Elsewhen have a different resonance for me as
an adult reader during this time of Trump/Miller's kids-in-cages, Muslim-
banning, immigrant crack-down. I imagine this sort of connection was not far
from mind when Kirby invented them - but it never really hit me consciously
until now how much a Sentinel can represent.

There were a lot of subtle (and not so subtle) Nazi undertones in Stan and Jack’s X-MEN—including their portrayal of Magneto.

Looking at what Alex* was wearing to bed made me think “man, Muir Island must be chilly,” but then I looked at what Lorna* was wearing to bed.

(Assuming that’s who they are)

Chief, if it makes you feel mildly better I was in my second last year of high school driving my art teacher nuts by pointing at your X-Men/Murderworld 2-parter, fresh off the newsstand, saying “I want to learn this!!!”

These latest pages are beautiful, your space scenes are second to none and I love the atmosphere you work into your terrestrial pencils. Looking forward to Havoc cutting loose.
