I'm genuinely curious since I think that I'm misremembering - where have we seen Magneto committing mass murder in the comics by the time of ELSEWHEN?•• Magneto's murderous nature was more often implied than stated. In the first issue, he left a live atomic bomb to cover his escape! When he invaded that little South American nation (with full Nazi regalia!) Stan and Jack made it clear it was not a peaceful takeover. But the Code was pretty strict in those days, and would not allow us to actually show mass murder. As the Code got weaker, Magneto got more visibly nasty.

And because of your masterful storytelling, although Magneto just did such villainous deeds, my first thought after reading today's page was "oh no! Who's going to take care of him?" (is there another Nanny-bot hiding somewhere? And how bad can you be as a villain when you create such an adorable, caring robot?)

This latest page reminds me of another reason why "Headmaster Magneto" was so silly. This is a man clearly a genius enough to build his own robots (not to mention a whole friggin' asteroid base!), and now he sits all day in a chair wearing a suit and running a school??
During the infamous Mutant Massacre issue, he was told by Storm to watch the New Mutants at the school instead. I guess Claremont realized that Magneto would have mopped the floor with the Marauders single-handedly - but still that's a sloppy way of handling it.

Irredeemably evil Magneto. Perfect.
Might need to fix the lettering, JB, on page 2, where it appears to read: "...DRIVEN ONLU BY A LUST..."

well, I definitely was joking. The whole Nanny sequence freaked me out as a kid and definitely cemented Magneto as being sadistic in my mind. I was surprised Magneto didn't make the robot look like Charles to really put it over the top

Well, it's good to know that even Magneto has some physical limits and it looks like he's reached them.
Also good to know (for me at least) that twisted as it is, he had some rational for destroying the space station as opposed to just "kicking over that ant-hill" just for the fun of it...

Fantastic opening sequence - you have a knack for drawing believable tech, JB. And a wonderful ability to blow it up real good!

This is great - Byrne in space is always a thing of beauty. I especially love Magneto’s hand in the second-to-last panel, it is spot on in terms of hand-acting and shadow.

Oh absolutely -but unless they are just crazy, most villains do what they do with some thought that they are in the right (doesn't make them right of course)...
