I swear, if I had the chance to restart AF at Marvel, the first page would be a splash of Puck reading a pile of AF comics and laughing. "These writers have some crazy ideas about what we've been doin' up here, eh?" And just go from where JB left off, alluding to adventures between but otherwise ignoring basically everything from after the Hulk smashed Box and bounded away.

I’d probably restart ALPHA FLIGHT about ten seconds before Heather opened that door, and delay her doing so by about that much.

X-Men and Alpha Flight together again - this is just so great to read, JB. I
hope you are enjoying this as much as we are!

If only we could clone JB and get an Elsewhen AF, Elsewhen FF, etc. in addition to this Elsewhen X-Men.  Ah, if only we could access a real multiverse and see all those stories.  Of course, what I'd like most is a continuation of Generations - 3 versions were great, but I'd love more, especially a Captain America/Batman follow-up (technically not a Generations story, but certainly fits in).  Impossible I know, but dang it'd be nice to see.

Ah well.  Back to enjoying this great series we are getting at a price we all can afford.  Looking forward to the promised Wolverine backstory and more X-Men/Alpha Flight for at least this issue.

So ten seconds later, she would miss hearing his last words; she would miss seeing him die; she would walk in to see smoking pile. Would she even have any idea what happened?

Fascinating.

Your memory fails you. Read the original scene again.

Heather distracted Mac, so does the delay mean Mac lives?

I would LOVE to see how that plays out. There was a way I had in mind to bring Mac back, but I'd rather see how you handle how their story would go from there, JB.

Maybe, if ELSEWHEN continues long enough, we can get "hearsay" that alludes to how things went. One can always hope!

It wouldn’t be a question of bringing Mac “back”, Andrew. I suggest you also do a wee bit of rereading.

Oh, I know that delaying Heather would mean Mac is able to stop the power pack from overloading, thus saving his life. I wasn't in any doubt about that.
I was alluding to the notion I floated earlier, picking up the story where you had left off originally; Mac would have returned to the team via another route.
But (as you say) if the series is restarted at the point of Omega Flight's defeat, then my concept is moot.
As said above, I would much prefer how you have it--Mac saved (by seconds) and their story going on--than how I would have done it.

As I’ve mentioned before, when I “brought Mac back” I chose the most ridiculous route I could think of, short of Divine Intervention. A route I was sure would get Alpha fans howling, since it so clearly contradicted what had been shown.

What I didn’t count on was Marvel fans being numbed to contrived resurrections, and Guardian fans apparently being so eager to have him back they’d accept almost anything.

The ultimate absurdity came later, after my departure, when it was established that the story of interplanetary time travel told by “Mac”/Delphine was TRUE!!

Oy!
