I feel like in total I've stared at #27 p.8 (cabin opener - that page has to be long gone by now < bought>, right?) for over an hour now, after always pausing there when rereading the last two issues so often. There is no doubt that this whole deal is the coolest 'comic event' of my 48 year old life; one bit of proof: I've sincerely never been exited for Mondays in my life before this. Thanks Boss!

Just catching up on this issue. The several billion dollar price tag is a great way of looking at why the Canadian government wanted to hold onto to their "asset". That's a big investment to pay off, so to speak. While things look altruistic on the surface, the money spent suggests it's anything but.
The filmic shift into an extreme close-up on the most recent page is beautifully done. I've been contemplating the amount of time it will take to replace each bone in Logan's body, considering recovery time, rest for the surgical team, physiotherapy/rehabilitation etc, this would be a long, drawn-out, and painful experience.

But they combined his tibia, fibula, ankle and the back of his foot into one unit. There should be for fewer... of course they will be adding more parts to his forearms.
By the way, how did replacing bones in his lower leg allow them to remove the armature from his shoulders and let his head move?
It feels like the writer is writing a different story then the artist is drawing, just like the good old days. :)

That was his femur. Not all the lower leg bones combined into one. You’re
looking at it upside down.

By the way, coming on to a forum where you are given a gift of new work by an expert in the field to make snarky comments is a dick move.
Comic books are a medium built on artistic shorthand. Each artist & writer has discretion as to how much and when they employ that shorthand. Byrne's use not your thing? Cool. Go read something else.

Also superfast healing. The logic here is that he and Logan have the same power set, which is why there was confusion early on whether Wolverine is a mutant. Since Sabretooth’s mutation bred true, Wolverine is more properly the first of a new species.

So, the bone in question contains a “sinister” joke, that is to say it is “out of left field” and quite humorous. That this is the first to be replaced is apropos.
