Today would have been my mother’s 101st birthday. (She died in 2009.)

My mind still boggles at the idea that 1921 was more than a century ago.

In my hometown there was (and is) a statue of a WW I soldier out front of the public library, and whenever I go back and see it, I quickly but briefly think that the Great War was some 50 odd years ago. A century ago is like President Garfield. Oh well.

How far back can you trace your mother's lineage, JB?

Only to her grandfather.

On my father’s side, to the 1700s. (If we don’t count the progenitor of the name, a king who died in 1052.)
