Agreed, Peter, though some kind of terminology would be needed to encompass and describe the eras in question.  'Bronze Age' in non-comics history makes sense as it's in contrast with the Iron Age and the Stone Age, so we get a sense of what the prevailing level of technology was.  Decades is clean but doesn't say anything at a glance about what actually was the flavor of the era, and gets increasingly complicated as time passes out of living memory.

I agree, some nomenclature around the. character of the comics produced in the respective eras is what is desired here.
Any ideas? Would make a good new thread ...

It's such a tough thing, because it's almost impossible to do something like this without also having the name itself shade into commentary. Hence JB's concern with the current Golden/Silver/Bronze, etc.

I posted this question and then went on a work trip, without a chance to check in.

As always, thanks for the answer, JB. It’s funny how memories change over time, and in my head I’d turned it into a “struggle” that it never was.

Also, I agree that the forum is in itself all the memoir needed.

I prefer the use of decades as well. Otherwise, we have to recognize the dreaded chrome and foil age.

"The Foil Age". I like it. All bright and shiny on the outside, but really nothing of substance. Sums up the early-mid 90's Image era fairly well.
