Well, Nathan. They might, but it doesn't change anything really.

It's really about the principles, for me. The fact that a great artist can simply say "no, thanks".

Maybe it's just me and the position I find myself today, artistically. But I think it's quite amazing.

Here's a JB cover that IS part of a Superman 75th anniversary celebration:

Might be time for another JBF get-together in San Francisco.

We should coordinate a JBF meetup next year or something. Perhaps a centrally located mid-west comic con to justify a get together. Shooting for 2014 could work.

I wonder if "principles" is the right word? Using it seems to imply that others who ARE contributing don't have principles. Which I would not say was the case.

Nathan, I WAS thinking about the JLA issues.

Seeing those pencilled and inked pages side-by-side, it was pretty disappointing to see the liberties taken by Ordway. Made me think of how much of Kirby's Superman we lost during his Jimmy Olsen run.

I like Ordway's work, by the way. Just thought Palmer or Austin would have been a better choice.

I ways prefer JB over JB but I will take Ordway over Nelson on JB any day.

The Ordway inks are definitely superior, from a technical standpoint. But they are no less disrespectful of the pencils.

You're probably right, chief. Stephen Covey would say that "principles" are a fixed set of laws, that wouldn't change from time to time. Not sure if this is universally accepted, tho.

Very hard to find a proper word here. But your action to me represents a certain form of empowerment.

I get where you are coming from JB. I can't imagine the frustration an artist must feel when seeing the time and effort of full pencils go to waste.

I would be up for one in the fall of this year. I will have vacation time. There is this:
Chicago Comic Con 2013
Wizard World Convention

Aug 8-9-10-11, 2013
THUR-FRI-SAT-SUN

Is this still a good one to go to?

Sad we won't see a cover on the stands, but nice they asked. (But it would have been completely wrong if they didn't.) Glad we still get to see a Byrne Superman in the commission thread.

Nathan--I wish!  I put together a Superman 75th anniversary show for the Cartoon Art Museum, and a friend's got the cover art for Man of Steel 1-6.  And Action Comics 419.  And Action Comics 583.  I'll post pics next week for those of you who want to see what a wall looks like with the original cover art to Man of Steel 1-6 hanging on it.
